Elmo Griffin

Elder Elmo Griffin was a member of Denton Primitive Baptist Church. 

Brother Elmo Griffin joined Denton Church in 1997. He was a long-time employee at the Denton State School, from which he retired in mid-2016.  After several years of exercising, the church voted in conference in 2017 to ordain Brother Elmo for the full work of the gospel ministry.

The Ordination service was held Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Denton Primitive Baptist church.

Elder Johnson describes Bro. Elmo as a sound teacher and preacher, who was a real asset to the ministry as home elder.

Elder Elmo Griffin was born January 28, 1962, and passed away on October 31, 2025, in Denton, Texas

“…I am saddened to share that Elder Elmo Griffin passed away suddenly during the visitation for his wife, Sister Elvera, the evening before her funeral. He had not taken his blood pressure medication and was rushed to Medical City Hospital in Denton, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Paramedics reported that his blood pressure was too high to record. Sister Elvera’s funeral service was held yesterday as planned, conducted by Elder Vernon Johnson and me. Arrangements for Elder Elmo’s service are being made and will take place within the next two weeks. Please keep their family and our Denton Church family in your prayers. Both Brother Elmo and Sister Elvera will be deeply missed.” 11/2/25
