FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BT DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN: ELDER HOLLIE REDMON I was born in Warren County, Virginia, March 8, 1909. I was brought up in the fear of God and to respect the Bible. I tried the works system and when I failed in that I gave up. I would walk about a half mile from my home and pray under a tree. I went to church, but could not get out of it what others said they did. I married Daisy Moore, who was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. I could not see it her way, but went with her. In 1936, I went on a trip for the Army. It was union meeting time at her church--a three day meeting. I was not expected to be back until it was over, but a change in orders got me back as the meeting was starting. I felt the urge to go before the church at that meeting and was accepted and baptized the 4th weekend in June 1936, by Elder A. L. Harrison. I was in two wars, World War II and the Korean conflict. We were transferred to Missouri and took our membership to New Garden Church in Ray County. I was given liberty by the church in 1952 to speak wherever the Spirit directed. We came back to Virginia in 1953, and I was called to serve Hopewell and Richmond Churches in 1954. I had a job with the State of Virginia as Food Inspector, and thought I could do both. Soon Greenwood and Mill Creek Churches called me to serve them, and, a little later, Timber Ridge called me. I had to give up the job, which I hated to do; but can truly say I haven't lost a thing by so doing.
