Sermon Summary

Elder Blanchard's sermon encourages spiritual, Christian, disciple-like
action! "Action" is a tough word in many
people's vocabulary. Remember the words written to the sluggish churchgoer:
"Arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light" (Eph. 5:14).

Years earlier, at a family dinner, when Brother Glenn was asked to give
the prayer of thanksgiving, his immediate reaction was "no." At that
moment, he realized he had a lot of growing up to do, and was determined to
learn how to pray. He was not stagnant; he was engaged and dedicated to learning
true commitment.

This message centers on the phrase shared by Philip in Acts 8:26, Paul in
Acts 9:6, and Ananias in Acts 9:11: "Arise and go." Here's the
preacher's point: God will use and bless active people! The story unfolds as
the text in Acts offers many practical elements that Brother Glenn unpacks
for us. Mixed with practical points, the deep doctrines of the faith are
interwoven in this message: the sovereignty of God, the purpose of the Gospel,
and God's providential work in Ananias and Paul to achieve God's purpose
in their lives.

God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform! From a devout yet
seemingly insignificant and fearful man, Ananias helps lead the future
"great Apostle Paul." While "God alone doeth great
wonders," I am amazed God is pleased to share gospel-work with His
servants. Here is God's practical side of working His will among the
inhabitants of the earth.

Are you willing to bear testimony, willing to take action? I am sure you
will be blessed by taking to heart these thoughts, applying them to your
Christian service to "arise and go" in the name of the Lord.
