Sermon Summary

This sermon gives the child of God reason to have peace in God. Elder Woods will show using a variety of Scriptures, beginning at Romans 14:17, that it is through Christ, or our access to God through faith in Christ, that we have peace with God. Not by way of 'meats' which is attributed to Old Testament law service. He speaks that this peace does not come to us by way of the Old Testament law service. How can it? It is done away or fulfilled in Christ. He mentions 2 kinds of peace; one through the legal work of Christ atonement and one through Gospel obedience.

It is the one through Gospel obedience to Christ which is stressed in this message. Naturally we want to do something, as in service to law, to gain this peace. But Elder Steve shows that the law service "points out sin" and can not have any saving effects in the child of God's life. He mentions the 10 commandments are part of the Old Testament covenant which was glorious, however there was something more glorious for the children of God.

Other Scriptures used are from Hebrews 13, 12, 8, Exodus 19 and 2 Corinthians 3.

Sermon was delivered at the Macedonia Primitive Baptist in Ackerman, Mississippi. 2011

This is a very important message for the Lord's people to understand as it sets forth the subject of our true practical peace we have through faith. Another words we do not serve God through keeping the moral law. For instance, you will never find rest or peace trying to keep the Jewish Sabbath. That's never ending works. The model, if you will, for a believer's sanctification is not OT law service but NT covenant faith in Christ.
