Elder Webb's gift is truly on audio display in this sermon. He was a very mild mannered man and his spirit is heard in his preaching. The sermon was preached somewhere in Arkansas and it appears that he followed Elder Altom in the pulpit.
This sermon begins with reference to Psalms 37:4, and the two points of rest and waiting on the Lord are carried out through this message.
Other Scriptures referred to are at least: Isaiah 62:1; Hebrews chapter 3; Isaiah 40:1-2,; Matthew 11:28, 2 Chronicles 20; Psalms 121:4; Proverbs 3:5-6.
His over all emphasis is the rest all God's believing children have in the finished work of redemption by the Lord Jesus Christ. Many of God's children do not have that rest because they do not believe in the finish work and therefore are working to achieve eternal salvation. When God rested on the Sabbath it was not because He was tired, but finished. When Jesus sat down once He ascended on High, he finished the work of salvation.
We can also find rest from our troubles here below through believing. This is highlighted on side 2 with some great illustrations. So be sure to hear side 2. We think it is very complimentary to the first side and a must-hear message.
Brother Webb passed away on July 8th, 2016. He was loved by all who knew him and devoted his life to the ministry.
