Sermon Summary

I found this sermon to be very refreshing, encouraging, and instructive. We are often bombarded in our day about the end times. There are so many different theories about it. Now, we've got a lot of mis-information to deal with concerning the Mayan and Aztec so-called 'prophecies' from 2012.

In Matthew 24, Luke 21 and Mark 13, the end of the world is described in considerable detail. Jesus told them when all of these things would be. It is penned down by Jesus in terms that cannot be mis-understood. He tells them about all of the signs and wonders that would come in THEIR DAY. These were real historical events in THEIR DAY. Is the New Testament written in such a way as to make people obsess over and wonder about future events and catastrophes yet to come? Or is it rather focused upon bringing you day by day to the cross?

The book of Revelation is also about the end of the world. The question is, when did that world end? The book of Revelation, just like the gospel accounts in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, tells you when that end is. It doesn't leave you to wonder about it. It is amazing how much ink and paper has been wasted by people speculating on something that the Bible has already told us the answer to.

My brethren, don't believe EVERYTHING you hear, either from the media, or even from Christian organizations. Many are sincere, but they are sincerely WRONG. Most of this end-times teaching is just plain wrong. It is designed to either scare you into living right, or to make you afraid so that others may profit from your fears.

What do the Scriptures say? Jesus words are clear. We must 'rightly divide' them Let us pray for wisdom as we study these things.
