Brother Hugh acknowledges the power of God in preaching. To enjoy and grow in grace! He opens up by quoting Matthew 9:13, "I will have mercy and not sacrifice."

Using Samuel's account of King Saul's disobedience against the Lord's commandment bearing this point for us tody-Do what the Lord tells you! Saul was in disfavor with God. Here is the point, "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,and to hearken than the fat of rams" (1 Sam 15:22).

Proverbs 21:2 –"The Lord pondereth the hearts", He sees your heart. Brother Hugh reminds us forcefully that we must answer to God by obeying His voice.

Paul prayed for Timothy-
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Why should you not be ashamed of the gospel-Why not? Because the Lord left us an example of suffering for our sake, with joy!
The answer involves, "The testimony of the Lord." The gospel is God's power to everyone who believes – You have that power. God enables every believer to believe! Preach Christ crucified- the power of God!

Brother Hugh preaches the gospel to us today. Though he has left, his words are still true. Thank you, Lord, for the memory and testimony of brother Hugh Montgomery, your servant.
