Sermon Summary

Here is one of the most beloved hymns among Old Baptist churches as well as many among all denominations.

While traditional hymn singing is fast fading from modernity's version of the New Testament church, this hymn still strikes the soul in need of refuge, and leads us back to the simplicity of the gospel; the record of what God has accomplished in Christ.

The hymn reflects a sinners great need of Christ and His grace, a genuine desire for the true and spiritual satisfaction of an awakened soul.

From Hymnary.org:

"Charles Wesley was converted in 1738, and wrote this hymn shortly thereafter; it was published under the title “In Temptation” in 1740 by the Wesley brothers in Hymns and Sacred Poems."

This recording is of the Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist, Maryland, church & friends singing A Capella, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul."
