Sermon Summary

<p>Elder Irvin G. Heaven preaches and defines one of our favorite sermons on 'Conversion.' Preached in 1980 at the Original Bear Creek Association.

He mentions many different aspects, of which I will name only a few. That conversion is a mixture of faith and good works with respect to Christ. This seems to be his theme. His passion for the Word of God, the gospel, and the importance of being obedient to the faith with respect to what pleases God, namely Christ, is his emphasis. And when we are thus perfected, we are the most profitable to the gospel church.

One point I enjoyed was when he made use of our love for the heritage of our faith, but then added, "What are we doing now?" Do we have preachers today? Do we have churches today? He mentions that we can't be 'converted' by listening to tapes. He stresses the importance of obedience in action.

He elaborates this subject in reference to the nation of Israel, purging (you'll love his experience using military soap), exercising our 5 spiritual senses, and many other analogies.

Elder Heaven preaches a great sermon. His love for Christ and his passion for the Word of God are manifested. It's a clear recording and a very encouraging message for all the Lord's people.

The sermon is about 55 minutes.
