Elder Richard Tillman is the Pastor of Old Harford Primitive Baptist Church in Jarrettsville, Maryland. The church is one of the oldest Primitive Baptist Churches in America. They meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday and located on Route 136, south of Jarrettsville. It's bricks originally from England having been used by the Seamen for ballasts in the ship. Elder Tilman also served Mt. Carmel Church in Bel Air, Maryland, in the 1980's and early 90's. O B I T U A R Y (updated April 27, 2022) Elder Richard C. Tillman, 80, passed from this life on Friday, April 22, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Marilyn C. ‘Lyn’ (DeLooze) Tillman who passed in 2017. Born in Balt., MD, Richard was the son of the late Henry Richard and Edna (Little) Tillman Maize. He was a 1960 graduate of City College and spent most of his career working for AT&T, retiring as a manager. He was a minister for over 40 years serving both Mt. Carmel and the Old Brick Primitive Baptist Churches, and was most recently a member of Old Carroll Primitive Baptist Church. Richard enjoyed model railroading, cruising, the beach, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Surviving are two daughters, Shelly Chamness and her husband, Mark of Columbia, MD, and Stacy Tillman of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Carol Rubright and her husband, Ken of Balt., MD; and a nephew, Michael Rubright.

Brother Richard had a tremendous gift to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His love for truth was enormous. He is missed by many PB churches in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
