O B I T U A R Y

Walter Robert "Bob" Scott, age 81, died Sunday, December 4th, 2011, at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Blountstown, Florida native was a 1948 graduate of Wewahitchka High School and attended Stetson University. He was ordained as a minister in 1951, serving churches in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. He was employed with Seaboard Coastline Railroad from 1952 until his retirement in 1968. Additionally, Elder Scott was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed the fruits of his labor and eating the food that God blessed him and his family with. The majority of his life was spent in the Ocala, Florida area, moving to Ludowici, Georgia, in 1983 and to Statesboro in 1995. Elder Scott was ordained as a Primitive Baptist Elder in 1989.

Elder Scott was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Hennecy Scott, in 1998. In 1999, he married his wife, Paula Roemer Scott. Elder Scott was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. He was a family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was known for his love of the outdoors and his passion for hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Paula Roemer Frey Scott of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Elder John and Wanda Scott of Statesboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and George Runyon of Ludowici, Nancy and Jeff Edwards of Ludowici and Becky and Scott Hoover of Statesboro; four step-children; grandchildren, Lisa and Harold Long, Christy and Bill Wingate, Joshua and Melissa Runyon, Lynn and Ken Deloach, Cheryl Smith, Jonathan Posey, Nicole Morgan, Raleigh Hart, Valerie and James DeLuca, Beth and Jabin James and Rachel and Chris Elron and several great grandchildren.
