FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN: ELDER EDDIE K. GARRETT, SR. WRITTEN BY THE MEMBERS OF THE THOMPSON MEMORIAL PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH. Elder Garrett was born February 20, 1933 in Lee County, Kentucky and moved to southwestern Ohio when he was 9 years old. He served in the Korean War and was decorated for valor in combat. Early in 1955 Elder Garrett united with the Missionary Baptists at 21 years old. He preached for them for 11 years, and then he joined the Old Baptists. In 1966 he led his entire church over to the Old Baptists. He has been a prolific writer over the years for many Primitive Baptist papers. He was on the editorial staff of The Christian Baptist for several years and also edited his own paper, The Hardshell Baptist, for several years. Elder Garrett has pastored the Thompson Memorial Church in Franklin Ohio throughout his entire ministry. He is an able debater and has conducted more than 30 debates with respected ministers of other orders. In his debates, he conveys the trait of meekness under undue pressure from his opponents. He preaches what he believes and believes what he preaches and is an exceedingly courageous servant of God.

EDDIE GARRETT, Elder Eddie K. Age 83, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Hospice of Butler and Warren County. He was born February 20, 1933, in Beattyville, KY, to Samuel and Moreen (Little) Garrett. He received an honorable discharge from the US Army after serving during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star. He was a minister at Thompson Memorial Primitive Baptist Church for 60 years. His devotion and dedication were seen throughout his life for the church and the congregation. He was a credit manager for Ringel's Furniture in Hamilton. He loved and adored his wife, Aileen, of 52 years, who survives him along with a daughter, Judy (Bob) Jaster of Middletown; sons, Eddie (Barbara) Garrett II of Sarasota, FL, Stephen (Paulett) Garrett of Monroe, NC; sister, Cora K. Garrett of Fairfield Township; special sister-in-law, Janice Back; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Brenda Garrett, and a granddaughter, Amy Johnston. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 9:00-11:00 am at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. A Funeral Service followed at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Elder John Davenport (Nephew) officiating. Interment was at the Hickory Flat Cemetery with the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
