Elder Arvell Charles was the pastor of the Little Valley Primitive Baptist Church in Holtville, California, and the New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California.

Obituary June 28, 1938 - June 5, 2020 On June 5, 2020, Elder Charles Arvell of Palmdale, California, was called to his eternal home.

Charles Arvell was born, the youngest of seven siblings, on June 28, 1938, to Mason and Grace Ola Charles of Arkansas, where Union County (AK) and Union Parish (LA) meet. Both his father and great-grandfather were ministers of the gospel. Charles was ordained to the full work of the gospel ministry in May 1979 at the Glorious Kingdom Primitive Baptist Church in Oakland, CA. Elder John Henry Thrower served as Moderator. At this meeting, John Wallace Thrower was also ordained a minister, and two deacons, Eugene Sanders Thrower and Willie Benson Jr., were ordained. On April 25, 1981, Charles and Brenda (Jackson) were married. Brother Charles was called as pastor of the New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Los Angeles and the Little Valley Primitive Baptist Church in Holtville, California. June 18, 2020
