FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN: ELDER CECIL E. DARITY Elder Darity was born in Danville, Twiggs County, Georgia on December 9, 1922. His parents were Freeman Amazar and Erma Lee (Nobles) Darity. Elder Darity was born into a family of seven children: four boys and three girls. His mother first united with Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Danville while ElderDarity was just a babe in arms. His father united with Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia several years later. This is the same church where Elder Darity is a member and where he was ordained.Elder Darity made his first effort to preach the gospel on the 3rd Sunday in May 1944 at Bethany Church near Fort Valley, Georgia. He was ordained to the ministry on October 20, 1945 at his home church. The ministers in his ordination were: Elders A. J. Banks (his pastor), Elzie D. Bryant, Sr., E. L. Rhodes, W. H. Hancock, and George Riley Hunt. Elder Darity has pastored a number of churches in central Georgia. Among them are Bethlehem at Macon, Beaver Creek at Perry, Providence at Roberta, Mt. Gilead at Tennille, Cedar Creek and Lebanon at Cordele, and Cool Springs at Danville, Georgia. The former Miss Nancy Elizabeth McLeod and this capable minister have been married many years and both have devoted themselves to serving the Primitive Baptists of Bibb and Twiggs County, Georgia.
