J.M. Bullard

FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN: - Elder J. M. Bullard was born July 10, 1895 and died on May 2, 1979. He preached for over fifty years. He served New Hope Church for 48 years Hopewell Church in Pontotoc County, Ms. for 47 years. He also served other churches and helped in the constitution of several churches over the years. Elder Bullard was an educator. He served as classroom teacher, principal,superintendent of high schools and was the first Business Administrator of the Northeast Miss. Jr. College in Booneville. He served in the Mississippi Legislature from 1944-48. During this time he was instrumental in introducing the legislation for the Jr. College in Booneville, Ms. and saw his efforts rewarded with the establishment of a community college that has contributed much to the education of Northeast Mississippi children. Also, during this time, he was instrumental in getting the support for the Northeast Mississippi Hospital in Booneville. Elder Bullard and his companion were very close friends of Elder J. D. Holder and his companion. They traveled together, visiting many sections of the country. He did considerable writing. Some of his most outstanding works are: "Ministers in My Day," "The Order of God's House," "Ministerial Qualifications," and "The Atonement."
