(Picture, Edwin is second from left.) Edwin was born in Burnsville, MS, on June 4, 1946, to Bearl and Lorene Carter. He graduated from Whitehaven High School and attended Memphis State University. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 68 of Memphis, TN, with special designation into the Order of the Arrow. Edwin retired as a Manufacturing Sales Representative and was an ordained Elder with the Primitive Baptist faith. He was an active member of Grace Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Memphis, TN, and was presently assisting Olive Branch Primitive Baptist Church of Olive Branch, MS. Edwin Carter was a charter board member of Christian Activities, Inc., which sponsors Camp Moriah. He served as board secretary for many years. Edwin Carter never met a stranger; he approached everyone as a friend that he just had not spoken to yet. His devotion to his family, church, and community will be greatly missed. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, William Bearl Carter and Lorene Shackleford Carter of Memphis, TN. Edwin Carter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Duggan Carter, his son, Jonathan David Carter of Southaven, MS, his daughter, Ruth Shannon (Tommy) of Nesbit, MS, and a brother, Aaron Dwight Carter (Avis) of Chalybeate, MS. He leaves five grandchildren, Mara Greer (Nick), Ashley Shannon, Evan Carter, Ashlynn Carter, and Layna Carter, plus three nephews and several cousins.
