Elder Rom Kerley, 93, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Tucker Hospice House.
Rom was born on January 20, 1928, in Alexander County to the late Rom Z. Kerley and Fannie Blackwelder Kerley.
He joined the Army/Air Force just after WWII and was very proud to serve his country. He pastored Mills Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and six other area churches. He led his flocks with kindness and humility along with his faithful wife. A man who loved His Savior, he enjoyed studying his Bible and amazed everyone by the quantity he had memorized. Tending his yard, growing roses, woodworking, and anticipating his spring garden were daily pleasures. His wonderful neighbors were a source of joy. Also cherished in recent years were Beazley, Onxy, Max, and Saber, his therapy dogs. Especially dear to him is fellow pastor Tom Robinson.
