Marty Smith

Martin Keith Smith (Marty) was born on September 1, 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia, to Eugene and Jeanette Smith. He has a younger brother, Greg, and a younger sister, Andrea Helmes. Marty and his wife Sandy have 7 children: Melody, Maggie, Caleb, Ella, Elijah, Brandon, and Aaron. They have many grandchildren: Sky, Revy, Reid, Sol, Emery, Violet, Timothy, Kylie, and Emma - and hope for more to come. Marty graduated with a BS in Applied Math and an MS in Operations Research from Georgia Tech. He was commissioned as an officer in the NOAA Corps, U.S. Department of Commerce, and functioned as a ship navigator and scuba diver for a research vessel in the Central Pacific. Marty then worked nearly thirty years for Lockheed Martin as an engineer and program manager, retiring in 2011. During that time he presented technical lectures at Georgia College, Mercer, Clemson, Old Dominion, Mississippi State, and the University of Arizona. Brother Marty was baptized as a member of Bethany Primitive Baptist Church in Atlanta in June of 1976, and was ordained as an elder in February of 1982. He has tried to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. For Primitive Baptist churches in Georgia, he has served as pastor of Shoal Creek in Newborn, Ebenezer in Sandy Springs, Macedonia in Cartersville, and Union in Roswell (see www.unionpbc.com/wordpress/sermons/). In 2019, Marty became a board member of the Old School Hymnal Foundation (see www.oldschoolhymnal.com). Marty and Sandy love singing praises to God, and hope to do that forever.
