FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN: ELDER WILLIAM L. EVERETT Elder Everett was born May 8, 1930, in Martin County, N.C. Elder Everett married the former Lennie McGuire on Sept. 14, 1952. He was ordained in 1969 at the Falls of Tar River PB Church, Rocky Mount, NC. Churches pastored: Skewarkey PB, Muddy Creek PB, and Norfolk PB. His secular profession was a Funeral Director. He was also a Korean War naval veteran. Elder Everett is also known as the author of the historical novel Coolmore. Elder Everett and his wife, both orphaned at an early age in different sections of N.C., were raised in the Masonic Orphanage at Oxford, N.C. Both of their memberships, as of February 1999, are with Healthy Plains PB Church, Wilson County, NC. He is presently an associate pastor at Healthy Plains PB Church.

O B I T U A R Y  

"Elder William L. Everett, age 88, a Primitive Baptist minister and retired funeral director, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018. Elder Everett was born in Martin County, NC on May 8, 1930 and reared at Oxford Orphanage, along with his deceased wife, Lennie Everett, of 62 years. He attended NC Wesleyan College. He served churches in Virginia and North Carolina and was the author of the historical novel, "Coolmore." A US Navy veteran, he served in the Korean conflict. Two Old Order Baptist groups, divided for more than a century, were reunited through his efforts. He was a member of Central Cross Lodge 187 in Spring Hope, NC. Elder Everett is survived by his son, William L. Everett, Jr. and wife, Cynthia of Nashville, NC; three grandsons, Gresham and (Abbie) of Blountville, TN, Seth and (Heather) of Wendell, NC, and Andrew of Bristol, TN; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lowell Everett of Windsor, NC; and a very special friend, Emmalane Webb."
