W.R. Dale

FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN: ELDER W. R. DALE Elder Walter Raleigh Dale was born Oct. 9, 1900, inFarmersville, Texas. Following a number of years with a very burdened soul,conflicting with paradoxical ideas, he finally united with the Primitive Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, in the year 1921. He was baptized by Elder George Mayo. His membership was later moved to Lone Star Church at Tioga, Texas.All was well for a while, until a different burden formed in the soul. This seemed to be the most unreasonable thing in the world, and he found it very hard to submit to. Nevertheless, in 1930 with Bible in hand, the first text was "Fear not, little flock, for it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." After that there was no end. One year from that time he was licensed, and a year later (May, 1932) he was ordained. Since 1933, he has served from one to four churches at a time, and moderated the South Plains Association for nine years. Eld. Dale has preached in thirty states, held two public debates and engaged in several written debates. He assisted in the constitution of nine churches and two associations. Elder Dale died April 25, 1980.
