Sermon Summary

Sermon was preached in the early 1990's at Happy Creek Church, Front Royal, Virginia.

Elder Trautner speaks on the subject of Finding Grace. He opens with Hebrews 4:12- 16. He makes it abundantly clear that the Scriptures teach that “grace must first find us before we can find it.” That God’s children are exhorted to find grace, because they can neglect the means of grace in their lives. He mentions that we can’t neglect something we are not in possession of. (CF Heb 2:3).

At this time Elder Trautner was experiencing a bad case of the shingles. He makes note of it in this sermon, and though his pain was alleviated by medication, he called to remember the boils Job suffered without the medical help we have today, yet, he found grace sufficient for his needs.

Several Old Testament characters are presented who found grace like Jacob, who was terribly distressed in meeting his brother Esau. But he found grace in the eyes of Esau. Here Elder Trautner defines what this means, that while “God may not do a work in a man He can work on him” by bringing him to a place of peace with his brother Jacob whom he hated. Other OT characters will be mentioned in this sermon as the main point is emphasized, for the child of God, miserable under the load of sin, there is grace to be found.

In his sermon Elder Trautner will quote many hymns of the faith in sharing these truths that mainly touch upon the experiences of the child of God.

This is a very uplifting sermon filled with illustrations and scriptural teachings , we are sure it will be a blessing to you. Search for side 2 after completion.
