<p>This message is on the "subject of fear itself," from 1 John 4:18.
It is certainly appropriate today in light of the Covid-19 Virus.
Elder Pyles Preaches this sermon years ago, but we can say, "He being dead yet speaketh."
Elder Pyles says in this message, "We are living in a world that is compassed around about, and were pressured from every side with things that will make the Lord's people afraid."
There are good fears, such as the fear of the Lord. And there other fears associated with the world and man that create anxiety.
THE COVID 19 VIRUS and the CHURCH.
Today is a day in which the Lord's people should trust in God. That does not mean a consent or agreement to a statement of faith.
But a conscience awareness of our dependency upon God, a relying on God, loyalty to God in spite of prevailing circumstances.
Do all you can to follow the common sense approach of the "powers that be" but do not worry over the things you can not control. But, most importantly, trust the Lord.
All the messages currently featured will be a blessing to you amid the fears expressed from almost every venue today. People dying, loosing jobs, contracting the deadly virus and so on.
So before you rush to the media and get your continual dose of negative information, consider first the importance of a Biblical perspective.
Also remember this as churches are basically regulated from meeting to prevent the spread of the virus. How much energy have we used to pray compared to worry? The promise that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church is genuinely given by the Lord Himself.(Matt 16:18) He is on His throne and is Head of the church. He also promised to put every enemy under His foot. (Eph 1:22) And so, as He has in our past, every enemy which launches its attack against that church ultimately is defeated. Because Christ the Lord loves His church, will build that church and He remains committed to that church.
So pray that God will quicken the demise of this virus, an enemy of the church, and once again set the Lord's people free from the potential disasters of this world.
