Sermon Summary

This message was delivered at Little Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Belflower, CA., on January 22, 2017.

Opening this sermon, Elder Trautner remembers the text J.D. Shain quoted from Isaiah 42 at the Highland Association in 1958. It was then that Brother Paul asked for a home in the church. What precious memories. This sermon is filled with memories, illustrations, and experiences a preacher gathers over a lifetime of holy service as he fondly remembers the provisions of the Lord.

This sermon came after the inauguration of a new President. (On January 20, 2017, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States in a ceremony held at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.)

He encouraged the congregation to pray for presidents and to trust in God.

The sermon text is Isaiah 9:6, and Brother Paul preaches on the various names of our Lord Jesus Christ. He often sets forth an analogy of a presidential cabinet with God's far greater attributes.

Toward the end of the message, he contrasts a Secretary of the Treasury with God, who provides all our needs (Phil 4:19).

Brother Paul notes (at the time of this sermon) that his age is eighty-four. However, the preacher is not retiring. He says, "Old Preachers never die; they just fade away." God has continued to bless him to preach Christ above every name!

Filled with anecdotes, Scriptures, and poems, Elder Paul Trautner is blessed again to share the wonderful message of the “Word of His Grace.”

He closed with the following poem reflecting God’s provision.

“Said the Robin to the Sparrow, I’d really like to know,
Why do these anxious human beings,
Rush around and worry so.
Said the Sparrow to the Robin,
Friend, I think it must be,
They have no Heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me!"

Elder Trautner lives with his son Patrick and continues attending church and preaching.
