Sermon Summary

The text for Elder Peter's message is 2 Corinthians 2:14-17. Asking the question, "Who is sufficient for these things?"

The answer is God, who knows all things. Including the deepest need and wants of your heart. If God is sufficient what are we doing trusting in flesh?

This point of reliance upon God, which is brought out toward the end of the sermon fits well with the text when Paul considers the effects of the gospel. When we consider that the gospel does not always find happy lodging in a man's heart. But is rejected with scorn and considered foolishness by them that perish. But even so, it is thank worthy to God because even then we triumph in Christ knowing the gospel truth is a savor or fragrance. While it's acceptance is measured by a man's heart, God Himself is sufficient even for this distinction. Because it is God that opens a heart to the gospel. To them that are saved, it is a sweet fragrance of life.

Using the analogy of a Roman victory parade marching in the home town and showing forth the victor's spoils with great triumph in sight of the captives, so too, we are victorious in the gospel as it's effect redound to the glory of His grace, the sovereign grace of God to give to whomsoever He wills.

Very uplifting message as Brother Wayne draws upon the need of the saint to rely and trust in God, when he said, "Don't buy into the self-will thinking." God knows your weaknesses, He knows what you have need of, trust Him therefore to help and give direction. Why? Because if He can bless you in the message of the gospel - then He can bless you in the fruit of it as well.

The sermon includes the whole worship service.

Elder Wayne R. Peters is the Pastor of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Ringgold, Georgia.
