Sermon Summary

The Psalms are rich with experiential truths and practical insights for the children of God who are under the load of burdens and distresses. Many times unanswered questions and concerns accompany us as we go through afflictions. The Psalms assist us in our spiritual understanding and show us how to turn to Christ.

In this sermon, Dolph Painter shares the main focus of each of the 7 Penitential Psalms. Using his wisdom as a father with several boys we gather bits of understanding as he goes through these Psalms. Here is a basic outline of his points;

Psalm 6 - Deliverance from chastisement
Psalm 32 - Lord forgive me
Psalm 38 - Affliction & design of chastisements
Psalm 51 - All sin is an offense against God
Psalm 102- Afflictions from an eternal view
Psalm 130- Looking inward - not backward.
Psalm 143- Prayer is essential.

Sounds like a lot to cover but his points are concise. The close of the message makes application of the nation of Israel, their bondage or chastisement, their repentance and ultimate revival.

Elder Painter is the Pastor of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia.

Message is about 52 minutes.
