Sermon Summary

Brother Jones' gift to preach is evident in this message. We thank God for him.

Note in this sermon that the term 'violence' is illustrated in many different ways. It is used here in a spiritual sense, as in 'striving' or challenging oneself to pursue the spiritual kingdom entered through much tribulation. As noted, it is primarily for sanctification in the life of a child of God.

Hate, for instance, requires no effort, but love and turning the other cheek are 'violent' to the old man!

The examples set forth the distinction between entering first by the Holy Spirit in regeneration (the sinner is passive) and afterwards seeking truth and righteousness through active obedience.
