Sermon Summary

From this sermon, you will learn what the Bible speaks of concerning the extent of redemption: it is “plenteous.” Elder Holder’s main emphasis regarding this redemption is, “For whom did Christ die?”

Brother Holder mentions the various schools of thought and tells us, “Any position I take will upset someone.” He sheds light on popular notions as he explains the difference between Christ dying for everyone and saving no one, in contrast to Christ dying for a particular people and saving everyone.

The point is that God’s redemption of His people was not scant, incompetent, or ineffective. Did the death of Christ make salvation possible or certain? The sermon demonstrates that Christ died for the elect and highlights the distinction between a substitutionary death and a symbolic representation. Which redeems?

He will use Isaiah’s 53rd chapter to speak on some of the 10 times the prophet mentions the objects of the Redeemer’s death.

Other Scriptures include the Book of Hebrews, the Gospel of John, and John’s Second Epistle, as he sets forth various Scriptures often misunderstood regarding particular redemption.

Brother Holder closes with some thoughts regarding whether this doctrine is exclusive or inclusive. If you are a serious Bible student, you must eventually confront the question of which redemption the Bible speaks to: one that is plenteous or one that is scant. Listening to Elder Holder’s message is a great place to start!
