Sermon Summary

Naaman the Syrian is a popular Bible character. Elder Lawrence draws from this Syrian Leper and the context to bring out many lessons for us today.

The sermon begins with an admonition...if you catch it. He tells his audience that 2 Kings 5 is a familiar Bible subject. But if you do not read your Bible it will not be familiar to you. This was a quite reminder to the Lord's people to read their Bible. I suppose we can save our teachers a lot of work if we ourselves are familiar with Bible characters.

Elder Lawrence speaks about leprosy and it's analogy to sin and the cleansing and washing a sinner receives by the washing of Jesus' blood.

He also speaks to the little maid mentioned. Though we do not know her name a picture is drawn from what the Bible does say about her. Find out how with God, little things are not insignificant.

Learn also how Naaman typifies human nature and its desire to buy something, like blessings. But there are no man-made conditions on grace. Instead of Naaman following the prophet’s instructions his human nature, namely pride, sets the agenda. Mankind is always setting conditions on grace. Elder Lawrence says, "if you take away the If, Ands and Buts, you have what we believe!"

As always, there is a lot more to the sermon than what is said in this featured print, it was a real blessing when it was delivered and we hope your listening of it can bear fruit again in your heart.
