Sermon Summary

The 15th Annual Hoboken, GA. All-Day Sacred Harp Sing is available for your listening pleasure in (3) parts. B.F. White Sacred Harp Hymn book is used.

This is an old-time tradition that first started in Alabama & Georgia in the 1800’s and continues today around the world. You will hear the hymns sung in 4 part harmony using the shape notes first (Fa, Sol, La & Mi) and then the words. 300 persons attended the meeting from all around the US and several from the UK.

As you view the picture on the front page the singers are arranged in a hollow square with each of the 4 parts (Bass, Alto, Treble & Tenor) sitting together with the song leaders in the center facing the Tenors. Each hymn was led by a different song leader.

Many of these hymns are sung today in Primitive Baptist churches as well as many other Christian churches. The recordings are currently listed in the ‘Sermon’ section in 3 parts.

After the Hoboken Sing, many attended another Singing using the Lloyd’s Hymnal at Mars Hill PB Church where Elder Clarke Lee is Pastor. This recording is also listed under ‘Hoboken Sacred Harp.’ In the 'Sermon' section, find the search box and type in 'Hoboken' for the complete list.
