Sermon Summary

Elder Mann preached this sermon at Tidewater Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

Using Ephesians 2:8-9 for his text, Brother Norvel speaks on the subject of God’s eternal salvation for His people. This is summed up in probably the most popular phrase in Christianity, 'Salvation by Grace.'

However, we want to stress that this salvation is all of God, that is, it is not by works. The question remains what part does the sinner have in obtaining eternal salvation? Brother Norvell shows the depth of human depravity as described by the phrase “without strength” and ”enemies to God” in contrast with the absolute effectual work of Christ in obtaining salvation for His people.

This sermon stresses the distinction between God’s means of eternal salvation to the heirs of grace and the purpose of the gospel in declaring that work, between God’s grace and man’s work.
And the sermon answers the question, By which will are the people of God sanctified, and by what means the elect are perfected forever…once and for all!

Many scriptures and anecdotes are used to set forth prominent features characterizing what primitive Christianity has taught for over 2000 years. What gospel do you trust in, one of man’s free will or one that declares God’s free grace?

Brother Mann is the Pastor of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Ronceverte, West Virginia.
