Sermon Summary

THIS SERMON WAS DELIVERED ON AUGUST 31st, 2002 AT THE SOUTH HAMPTON PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CONSTITUTION SERVICES IN HOPEWELL NEW JERSEY. A dozen ministers and hundreds of Old Baptists were on hand from around the country.

(The constitution of this church, now approaching the 17 year mark, is a remarkable witness to the goodness and grace of God. This church, under the pastoral care of Elder Andy White, continues to bless the North East with a Primitive Baptist church bearing testimony to Christ and Him crucified, His finished work of salvation.)

Elder Blanchard begins his sermon with a historical illustration that took place at the close of World War II, when the Germans surrendered, they had to make a choice, either join with the Allied troops to the west, including the Americans or the Russian Communists to the East. That choice would have ramifications for decades to come as history points out. This he compares to the importance of a child of God surrendering to Jesus Christ with the body, mind and will instead of the arch enemy, Satan. He says "many are born again but not Christians" because they fail to surrender to the right side. He says, "Satan wants to temporarily torment what God has eternally blessed." He encourages us not to be conformed but transformed. And he speaks to the difference of just going along and being a conformist or being transformed in our minds and wills by surrendering to Jesus Christ - our choices have consequences in this life.

This was a great sermon that was applicable and encouraging to a newly constituted Primitive Baptist church and equally a blessing to everyone else in attendance that day. Once you hear this sermon you may wish others to hear it as well. Share it with family, friends, church members and pastors! And, please let us know what you thought!

Elder Glenn Blanchard serves as Pastor of New Hope PB Church in Winter Garden, Florida.
