Sermon Summary

Elder Jeff Harris in this sermon preaches from an OT text in Habakkuk chapter 1:5, Feb. 17, 1995.

The first half of the sermon he speaks to the conditions of that day and the context and burden of Habakkuk, in particular the judgment from Babylon. He uses other OT applications to show that the work spoken of is God's work, not mans! This is a good lesson for those who preach, to give the explication of the narrative first and its literal meaning with additional use of scripture to illustrate.

Afterwards, on the second side, Elder Harris asks the question, "What kind of work will God do?" and answers it in light of the New Testament application and ultimate fulfillment with the Apostle Paul in Acts chapter 13. This work involves the establishment and continuance of the gospel kingdom for God's children, both Jew and Gentile. Elder Harris underscores the purpose of the gospel and the obligation of the minister to herald the truth, as God opens doors so the elect may partake of the gospel kingdom today. He speaks to the "broken vessels", that God uses to bring glory to His name by preaching and believing in the finished work of Christ.

Elder Harris preaches with passion and purpose as he relates some of his experiences from the Philippines. May the Lord Bless you as you listen to this sermon! Be sure to continue the sermon on side two listed under 'Jeff Harris.'
