Sermon Summary

<p>Elder Walter Raleigh Dale was born on October 9, 1900, in Farmersville, Texas. Ordained to the office of Elder in May of 1932, he served several churches in Texas.

This sermon was preached on October 4, 1959, at Greenwood PB Church in Virginia, when Elder Hollie Redmon was Pastor.

This sermon addresses Providence, a very popular subject. Elder Dale speaks of two major divisions, Regular Providences and Special Providences. He begins his sermon by speaking of his wonderful experience looking through a telescope and viewing the stars and the marvelous works of God, who is King over all the kingdoms&nbsp;he himself created, maintains, and governs, placing them under his laws. That he made man and put him under moral law, making mankind accountable to their creator.

In this sermon, he will combat errors that brethren fall prey to&nbsp;on this subject, and I think does well in refuting an absolute deism that denies God as creator interacting with his own creation, and an absolute fatalism that leaves man unaccountable to his creator. He refutes the extreme position of absolute predestination in regard to a pre-fixed, pre-determined lifetime of mankind.

In the second half of the sermon, he gets into the believer's blessed opportunity to live under Special Providence, afforded to them through God's spiritual kingdom on earth. This is a great message!

Please note Elder Dale's delivery style. Very forceful and dramatic, but very typical of that era. One can only imagine the power felt sitting in a pew at Greenwood Church when this sermon was preached.

The second-half recording has some feedback, but it is worth your attention. The best of this sermon is on side 2. Search for it by typing, W.R. Dale in the search box.
