Sermon Summary

In Memory of Elder J.R. Rakes – Died June 8th, 2011.

This sermon was preached at Tidewater PB Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

This sermon is but a summary of the style and content of his messages. Brother Rakes was gifted by God to preach the simplicity of the gospel of Christ. In this message, the gentleness of Christ is on display. It was not his condemnation against us but his love for us that delivered his people. Listen how Elder Rakes speaks of the person and work of Christ in reconciling enemies to himself, and who now by grace are blessed to be called friends and considered, “great.”

The death of Elder Rakes was a great loss for his family, his friends and the churches which were blessed by his ministry.
