<p>Welcome from Pastor - Elder Mark Green</p><p>New Hope Primitive Baptist Church was constituted in 1926.
Although several ministers have served as her pastor over the years, a majority
of her history was covered by the labors of four ministers: Elder O. E. Odell
(1928-1946), Elder W. A. Garrett (1949-1981), Elder M. R. Altom (1987-1994 and
1997-1999), and Elder Mark Green (1999-present).</p>
<p>The best way to learn about what Primitive Baptists believe
and practice is to attend our worship services. We have been called Feet
Washing Baptists, Predestinarian Baptists, Hardshell Baptists, Anti-Mission
Baptists, and perhaps other names. And, it is true that we do wash feet in
conjunction with our communion services; we do believe in the doctrine of
Predestination as it is taught in the Bible; we are opposed to the Modern
Mission Movement as it commonly exists among the different religious orders;
and we are characterized by being very firm in our religious convictions, thus
perhaps logically fitting us for the nickname “Hardshell.” However, there are
four distinguishing points of doctrine and practice which, taken together,
differentiate us from all other religious orders.</p>
