<p>FROM THE HISTORY OF THE PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH AT COLUMBIA </p><p><br></p><p>Elder Benjamin Seekford was born in Alma, Virginia, and began teaching in Page County. Graduated from William and Mary College where he attended in 1917. In his secular vocation, he was a science teacher and school principal of Robert E. Lee High School. In 1956, he retired after 30 years of teaching at Western High in Staunton, Virginia. His teaching ability accommodated his pulpit skills. He was also the pastor of Washington Primitive Baptist Church in addition to Columbia. According to Elder James Compton, who knew him, Elder Seekford was a kind and compassionate person, a very humble man. </p><p>He died at the age of 74.</p>
