The following is from obituary.
Frederick Hall Hatcher, 80, died peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016.
He was born April 17, 1936, in Floyd County, Virginia, to Arthur Lee and Sally Gay Hall Hatcher.
Fred joined the United States Navy in 1955. He was a machinist mate 3rd class, serving on the USS Fort Snelling and traveling throughout the Carribean and Mediterranean. He was honorably discharged, going on to work with the Hatcher Brothers’ Sawmill and later to build many new homes.
He was a founding member and preacher at Providence Primitive Baptist Church, in Lovettsville, Virginia.
He began his career of 29 years at the East Alcoa Company in 1969, where he upgraded the company’s charge chutes, tool racks and billet holders and invented a new skimmer.
Fred loved visiting with his family and friends, especially his great-grand- daughter.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Coates Hatcher; son, Don Hatcher; daughters, Rene’ Sullivan and husband, Clint, and Terry Gibson and husband, Peter; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Lee Hatcher, of Boxford, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Frederick Hatcher Jr.; and 10 siblings.
