FROM THE BIOGRAPHCAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN:
ELDER STEVEN BLOYD
Elder Steven Wade Bloyd was born on November 17, 1960, in Gaines County,Texas, the son of Donald and Nancy Bloyd. He was introduced to the PrimitiveBaptists, at an early age, by his grandparents, Steve and Winnie Bloyd. In January 1976, at the age of 15, he was received into the fellowship of Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Elder Afton Richards. On December 9, 1989, he was ordained as a deacon along with Bro. Michael Rodgers and Bro. Jack Denton.
After exercising several years under the direction of Elder George Johnson, he was ordained, again with Bro. Michael Rodgers, to the full work of the ministry on July 20, 1991. Their ministerial charge was delivered by Elder Gus Harter. Elder Bloyd was called by the church at Crosbyton, TX, to be their pastor. In 1992, while pastoring the Crosbyton Church, he received a call from Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church in Bel Air, MD, where he is currently the pastor. The Lord has given Elder Bloyd a great desire to see a revival among thechurches m the Northeast region of the United States. Recently, meetings have been held in Maine, New Jersey, and New York; regular services have commenced in Southampton, PA. |
