Jim Poe

The Passing of Elder Jim Edward Poe

September 17, 1926 – June 27, 2017

- Elder Jim Poe, a much beloved elder brother, passed from this life on Tuesday in Mississippi. We were blessed to have Elder Poe live here in the north Texas area for a few years and grew to love him greatly. His love for the Lord and His people was great. If there were Church services going on, Elder Poe wanted to be there. Our children used to refer to Elder Poe as “the preacher that looks like John Wayne”. Elder Jim Poe was the grandson of Elder James William Poe (1848-1933), who served Churches in Texas during his ministry. We give God the praise for the life of Elder Jim Poe and walk in the Lord’s service.

“….Funeral services for Elder Jim Edward Poe of Grenada will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill, with Elder Paul Blair and Elder Eddie Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, with military honors at graveside. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 28, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the Church”.
