Thomas Bond

FROM THE BIOGRAPHCAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN:

ELDER THOMAS E. BOND

Elder Bond was born on November 22, 1953. He was baptized on June 11, 1967 at the Piney Grove PBC in Alabama by Elder S. J. B. Dallas. He was ordained on January 8, 1977, at the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church. He was married to Virginia Elaine Bond on October 19, 1973 (she is the daughter of Elder Lonnie Wright of Albuquerque, NM). To this union one son was born, Thomas Dale Bond; and one daughter, Tammy Janeigh Oliver.

ELDER BOND WRITES: As far back as I have a memory, I have realized the condition that I am in because of sin and its consequences. I began to pay attention to the preaching at an early age. Oh, how my poor, little soul would rejoice whenever the preacher would speak of the wondrous grace and mercy ofGod! At the age of 13, I united with Piney Grove Church in June of 1967.From the time I was 7 or 8 years old I knew that someday I would bepreaching the gospel to the Lord’s people.
My first effort to speak occurred when I was 15 years old. Elder John M. Blackshear was the first minister to recognize the burden I had and give me an opportunity to preach in His name. I was liberated to preach at Bethel (Blue Springs, AL) when I was 18 and ordained at Piney Grove when I was 23.

Union PBC (Crawford, AL) invited me to preach for them in the fall of 1976 and soon called me as their pastor. At this time they sent a committee to Piney Grove PBC to call for my ordination, which took place on January 22, 1977.There were 15 ministers in the presbytery. I served Union as pastor until sometime in 1979.

In March of 1981, Concord PBC (Wadley, AL) called me as their pastor and I was blessed to serve them until August of 1990. Piney Grove PBC called me to serve as pastor in October of 1990 and I serve as their pastor at the present time(2000).

Truly one of the highlights of my ministry was when my wife and I were blessed to become involved in the work in the Philippines. We made our first trip in 1998. We made a trip of 12 days the end of January and the first of February. Itwas such a wonderful joy to expeience the workings of God among the Filipinos.
