J.M. Blackshear

JOHN MILES BLACKSHEAR, b. 17 Jul 1924 in Bluffton, Ga. Son of Johnnie Meadows Blackshear and Elder Rufus King Blackshear. Died December 3, 1987 at his home on Glenwood Street, Dothan, Alabama. Wife, CLOYEE SAMMONS, b. Geneva Co., Ala., 27 Oct., 1925, dau. of Sarah Collins and C. J. Sammons. Rt. 2, Hartford, Ala. Issue No. 1 Alan Dale, b. Troy, Ala., 23 Feb., 1949 .

It was not long after beginning his service in the U. S. Navy that John could no longer find rest outside the Primitive Baptist Church. So, while home on leave, on October 19, 1945, he presented his case to Bethel Church near Bonifay, Florida and was received as a member. John was received by letter into Little Vine Church on May 5, 1963 as an ordained deacon from a sister church. On April 15, 1965, John was ordained to the full work of the ministry by the request of Little Vine Church. After being called to serve Lockhart Church in Lockhart, Alabama, he moved his membership to that church in January 1973 where it remained until his passing. Cit. Interview, Miss Jennie Blackshear, Iron City, Ga. Ls. J. M. Blackshear, Dothan, Ala., Mrs. J. W. Sanders, Whigham, Ga.
