David Crawford

FROM THE BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF PRIMITIVE OR OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MINISTERS BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AND MARK GREEN:

ELDER DAVID CRAWFORD

WRITTEN BY DAVID MONTGOMERY AS TOLD BY DAVID CRAWFORD:

Elder Crawford was born in 1960 at Ft. Pierce, Florida. His first memory was listening to the hymn “When We All Get To Heaven.” His father, Elder Cromer Crawford, baptized him at the age of six at the Orange Church in Miami Florida. Even at that early age, he knew full well that he was joining the church of theLord Jesus Christ.

In July 1974 as he was driving a tractor, he first felt the call to preach the gospel. He was ordained in 1975 at the age of fifteen and immediately began to serve the Little Flock Church in Miami. Being too young to drive, he flew back and forth. In December 1977, the MacClenney Church called him for an appointment. Shortly after, he was called as pastor. He moved to MacClenney when he was nineteen. He completed a degree in Education and is now Principal of the Baker County High School.

He met his wife, the former Sherry Bryant on the “greatest preaching trip of his life” at the Cool Springs Church when he was nineteen. He told Elder Cecil Darity that she was the most beautiful lady he had ever seen and the he was going to marry her. He asked her to marry him the very next night and she accepted. Two years later, they were married. In 1997, David and Sherry were blessed to adopt a beautiful little boy, John Anthony.

Brother David credits a series of messages preached by Elder Lasserre Bradley as one of the difference-makers in his life. Through Elder Bradley’s preaching, Brother David saw his own complacency and that he was a “sluggard.” He decided to concentrate his efforts on MacClenney church and encouraged them to meet every Sunday. The Lord has blessed the church through these efforts.

FROM DAVID MONTGOMERY: The Lord has truly blessed Elder Crawford and theMacClenney church. I have had the pleasure of visiting this church and with Elder Crawford in his home. They are a lovely group of people and my heart remains with them.
